And for the next two days, I’ll be giving you some serious recommendations for one of my favorite romance authors: Sarina Bowen. Guys, what do you do when you’re book slumping? In my case, when I’m burnt out on reading, I often turn to romance. I don’t usually write full reviews of romance books, and I’m not sure if all of you like the X-rated books! Recently in Romance is my mini-review feature where I bundle my recent reads and buys for those of you who are fans. Since becoming a romance reader two years ago, I’ve struggled to figure out where romance reviews belong on my site. ![]() 7/4/2023 0 Comments Eldonna edwards books![]() ![]() ![]() Eleven-year-old Grace Carter has a talent for hiding things. His tales of leisured Edwardian gentleman-academics whose narrow-minded investigations bring them into contact with nameless horrors from the past are flat-out classics of the genre and their reputation was enhanced by several highly-regarded BBC television adaptations in the 1970s – adaptations that echoed the stories’ original conception as tales to raise a chill around the Christmas fire.Īnd yet, James never intended to publish his stories in book form. ![]() Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936), Biblical scholar, antiquary and mediaeval historian is also, quite possibly, the twentieth century’s most influential writer of ghost stories. ![]() ![]() In my translation, I tried to maintain some meter, but the rhyme I disregarded in order not to bend syntax and meaning. It is over 2,000 lines long, set mostly in six-line stanzas, the 2 nd, 3 rd and 6 th lines rhyming, and the 4 th and 5 th lines rhyming the first line is unrhymed, I think as a way for Hernandez to freely set up the stanza. ![]() The epic poem is a novel in verse, with character development and a thick plot. He is a mighty personality, a captivating character and possesses a certain amount of fineness, just as conceived by Aristotle in his description of the tragic character. His hero, as stated already, is not a vulgar and greedy enchanter of the German legend. Faustus’s submission to the devil, his dangerous temptation to enjoy the power of necromancy, his frantic attempt to have pleasure, knowledge and authority and his pitiful repentance are all framed in a unique manner to create a great tragedy out of some loose, detached facts of the German story.Īgain Marlowe’s conception of the tragic character in Faustus is also unique. The play does not represent merely the evil nature of a man who is a poor victim of the devil, but well exhibits the conflict between good and evil in the soul of a talented personality. ![]() ![]() I was extremely excited for his book, because I already knew him as a person or whatever part of himself he shares with us on Youtube, but now I could know more about him, beyond his camera via his book.
